In the coming weeks, it will begin rolling out a Known Folder Move feature to its Insiders, changing the way cloud syncing works on its os. It just bothers me that this set of arbitrary folders is there by default and there's no easy way to change them.The lack of significant One Drive integration in Windows has always been a mystery, but Microsoft has clued up over the past year. I already sent this feedback through the Insider Hub, but it didn't get much attention there.Įdit: I'm aware that you can customize the locations and apply some registry tweak/3rd party tools to make all this work. Why did they get replaced? Technically they're still there but hidden by default. The Libraries introduced in Windows 7 were the best solution so far. You can't easily remove these folder (there's a registry hack) or add your own either. Documents is a mess by default from all the games and application-specific folders, so I use a custom Documents folder on my D: drive as well. I don't use the Desktop at all (icons are hidden) and my Downloads folder is on the D: drive. Not everybody has the need for Videos, Music, Pictures, especially on a work PC. I think everybody has their own folder structure depending on what they do, right?
